Laser Acupuncture Therapy

Relief Without the Needles.  From Aches to Ease—One Beam at a Time.  Regain Strength, Restore Comfort, Heal Faster.

Laser acupuncture (LA) is a non-invasive, low-level laser therapy (LLLT) that can affect bioenergetic processes and other aspects of the body. It may stimulate the body’s natural healing processes by affecting energy flow, neurotransmitters, and cells:

  • Bioenergetic processes: LA can enhance bioenergetic processes, such as neuron membrane depolarization and pulsed response potency acceleration.
  • Cellular changes: LA can stimulate cellular changes, including activation of synaptic processes and accelerated axonal growth.
  • Energy flow: LA may stimulate energy flow.
  • Neurotransmitter release: LA can stimulate the release of neurotransmitters.
  • Immune regulation: LA can regulate the immune system.
  • Neuroendocrine activity: LA can affect neuroendocrine activity.
  • Blood flow: LA may increase blood flow in the body
  • Mitochondrial dynamics: HBOT can cause changes to mitochondrial motility and respiratory function.
  • Endorphins: LA may release endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers.
  • Connective tissue: LA may affect the function of connective tissue cells, which can accelerate tissue repair and reduce inflammation.

Laser Acupuncture can:

  • Increase ATP (energy) production
Laser acupuncture can stimulate mitochondria in adipocytes, which increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP).
  • Improve muscle performance
Low-level laser therapy can increase mitochondrial respiration in muscles, which can improve muscle performance.
  • Accelerate muscle healing
Low-level laser therapy can increase the activity of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes, which may speed up the muscle healing process
  • Improve mitochondrial function
Near infrared/red light therapy can improve mitochondrial function by increasing cellular respiration and ATP production.
  • Regulate mitochondrial homeostasis
Acupuncture can regulate mitochondrial homeostasis by modulating mitochondrial autophagy, reducing oxidative stress, and more.

Laser acupuncture is like traditional acupuncture but we do not use needles, we use gentle laser beams. This increases the effectiveness of treatment.

Laser acupuncture has some advantages over traditional needle acupuncture:

  • LA is non-invasive
  • non-thermal
  • has a painless and bloodless procedure

Some studies have shown that LA can have anti-inflammatory effects similar to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Other studies have shown that LA can influence the activity of the central and peripheral nervous systems.

LA has been shown to be more effective than traditional needle acupuncture. However, it does not need any needles (unlike traditional acupuncture) which makes it much safer. Although LA and needle acupuncture are both non-surgical treatments that can stimulate acupuncture points, they differ in several ways:

  • Pain: Laser acupuncture is painless, while needle acupuncture can cause a slight pin prick, tingling, warmth, or mild discomfort.
  • Safety: Laser acupuncture is safe and has no side effects, while needle acupuncture can cause inflammation.
  • Aseptic: Laser acupuncture is aseptic, meaning it doesn’t cause tissue trauma.
  • LA can be used on certain acupoints that needles can’t: Laser acupuncture can be used on some acupoints that needles can’t, such as Cv 8 (Shenque).
  • Treatment time: Laser acupuncture treatments are much faster than needle acupuncture treatments, taking only 5–20 seconds per point compared to 30 minutes for needle acupuncture.
  • Suitability: Laser acupuncture is suitable for people who are sensitive to needles or have a fear of needles
